Heating Project

St Germain’s is in the process of improving its buildings so that they better serve the needs of the church and the local community. The church has been without a functioning heating system since the start of the pandemic in 2020. In line with the Church of England’s goal of becoming Net Carbon Zero by 2030, we are hoping to install a new environmentally friendly heating system that is fit for the future and will allow us to restart our normal worshipping together and serving our community.

The plans include putting in a heat delivery system (pipes and radiators), installing air source heat pumps (ASHP), repairing the external doors, enclosing the side chapel and reordering the rest of the building to include storage. The image below will give you a good idea of what the finished result will look like.

We have already made a start. The church doors are off-site, being restored by a specialist and will be refitted by July 2023. However, we need to raise £350,000 in order to install the heating system, and we would appreciate your generosity in donating some money towards this fund.
