We believe that God is living and active today, and so prayer plays a key role in the life of the church. Our aim is for these words of Jesus to be true of St Germain’s. “If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing” “If you remain in me …. ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you”. There are a number of ways in which you can ask us to pray for you or join us in prayer.
We meet each weekday morning from about 9.30 to pray together using Common Worship Morning Prayer including prayer for the church, community, and world. Our intercessions are structured round a number of lists, so that we pray regularly for the streets and businesses of the parish, for church members, church activities, mission partners, the wider church and world, and specific weekly prayer requests.
Central Prayer Meeting
We hold a monthly prayer meeting, usually on the first Monday, to worship and seek God, and to pray for the world, each other, and current aspects of church life. This takes place in the church lounge at 8pm.
Mid-week Prayer Group
A relaxed, informal prayer group that meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month, 10.30am-12.00pm in the church lounge, to pray together after a coffee and a chat.
At some point during each Sunday morning service there is the opportunity to seek prayer for any particular need. We have a team of people to pray with you, who are primarily just praying friends, but who will all have received some training in prayer ministry.
At the back of church is a board where each Sunday anyone can write up requests for prayer. These requests are prayed for each day during that week at Morning Prayer, and then are put on the service sheet the next Sunday for church members to use in prayer during the next week. If you would like to send us a prayer request, please send it to the church office using our contact form.
